Fixed cracked bend

In my last post I talked about cracking a side trying to bend a venetian cutaway.Well I used ca and clamped the spots.There were three of them.After it dried I sanded the area down to about .070 And tried to re-bend.I knew I`d never get away with a venetian so I bent just like the other side.It`s a 000 auditorium.Lucky me ,after a couple of bends I believe I salvaged the sides.It`s not gonna be the cut I wanted ,but what the heck it will still make a nice guitar.I guess the moral of the story is.If it acts like it`s gonna be too hard to bend ,stop and assess the situation.I got lucky this time and stopped just before it completely broke.I guess the cutaway will have to wait until next time.

That's great James! I'm glad you were able to fix the side and go on with your building process. Sometimes you just have to stop and rethink things. With your attitude I think you will do just fine!

Congrats on the repair and guitar. Like Dave said sometimes have to change up. I know we are told everyday when talk about a build, "see it in your head" this comes when a client has special things they want and Bill has to picture things to be done while talking to that person. He teaches us that everyday.

That said, like we are also told, things go wrong and you have to know how to make it work, don't throw away good stuff because it didn't work, fix it and move on. Sounds like you did well. You will still have a great guitar and can do the other next one. As time goes on, I am sure you will be able to have more confidence in doing what started to do, even with set backs. It is all in the process of learning and doing.

The learning never stops. I HOPE. I still lack confidence in things, but told to just do it. Bill is great at taking the time to show us, no matter how small or easy it may seem to him or how big to us.

Stopping and rethinking things is a good thing no matter skill level. Sometimes all have to do that. You did good.
